"Animals give me more pleasure through the viewfinder of a camera than they ever did in the crosshairs of a gunsight. I have developed a deep respect for animals. I consider them fellow living creatures with certain rights that should not be violated any more than those of humans." - Jimmy Stewart
This alpha elk rests among the fallen trees in Rocky Mountain National Park. With antlers like this few others will mess with him.

Elk make an unusual sound, unusual because I expected a deep, loud sound from such a large beast. In fact t's a sort of whistling, and quite erie to hear when you're camping at night. If you're at Moraine campground the elk are not far away. When I got to my campsite during the day there were several elk lounging there in the shade. I came back later.
