Capturing a dramatic monochromatic
image is the most satisfying photography of all for me. Without color
the image is at it's purest, defined by light, shadow, contrast, shapes,
and patterns. Not all subjects make an interesting image in black
and white, especially subjects under flat light, or colors within
similar tone range.
The majority of these photos pre-date my digital transition a couple
years back, but occasionally there's a marginal color image that really
comes to life in grayscale, so I convert it on the computer with no
regrets.
