| Most of the mosques in Cairo have
an open-air design with a central plaza open to the sky. The immense stone walls deaden the noise outside, a constant from sunrise to sunset. The view skyward is clear in contrast to the dirty streets outside. Each mosque has a slightly different atmosphere, but for all you'll have to leave your shoes at the entry. |
