“Real flowers bloom in the wilderness.” - from the movie: “House of Flying Daggers.”
Indian Paintbrush is a ubiquitous plant out west appearing in a variety of colors. I've seen them in yellow, orange, and red.

This plant is blooming during the last week of June at 12,000 feet near Loveland Pass, Colorado.

I've been to the same location mid-winter when the ground is covered with many, many, feet of snow. The snow cover might still be there in May, so the plants come up fast and waste no time coming into bloom.
