This picture of Sue Lake is taken
from an overlook a couple of miles from the 50 Mountain camp ground.
Glacier NP is running out of glaciers. One can easily imagine a time,
not too long ago, when glaciers completely surrounded Sue Lake. One
doesn't need to use their imagination to see the strata in the surrounding
mountains.
It is hard to believe, but the Glacier area at one time was at the
bottom of an inland sea. The dynamic earth is on display when you
realize Sue Lake is approximately 6000 feet above sea level. |
