“Now when I die I don't want no coffin
I thought about it all too often
Just strap me in behind the wheel
And bury me with my automobile”
- James Taylor
The moment just before the sun lifts itself over the horizon to begin another day. This is Greenwich Point Beach on a clear fall morning; for me the best part of Greenwich. I've posted more photos of the park here.

I've put in more run miles at Greenwich Point than anywhere else. You can take a 2.6-mile loop on trails around the perimeter, or add distance with the trails that cut through the interior.

One winter when all the roads and trails in Greenwich were covered with a sheet of ice for weeks, the only runable surface was the low tide sand exactly where this jogger takes his morning workout. Each day there was a window of opportunity as the tide went out revealing a half mile stretch of hard-packed sand; perfect cushioned footing for some back-and-forth laps.
