“Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you." - Maori Proverb
Tekapo Lake lies right in the center of New Zealand's South Island. It's a long narrow lake and this image is looking north towards snow covered Mt. Cook. The 'Southern Alps' still have plenty of late spring (early December) snow! The color of the lake nearly matches the sky with just a little more green tint. Have you seen Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies? The color is similar, perhaps caused by dissolved minerals.

So if you drive south from Christchurch to Queenstown, take the inland route past Lake Tekapo, hope for a sunny day, and bring your camera!
