"They have worries, they're counting the miles, they're thinking about where to sleep tonight, how much money for gas, the weather, how they'll get there—and all the time they'll get there anyway, you see."
- Jack Kerouac, On the Road
When you travel through remote areas it's wise to caravan. And so we did driving through the Sinai.

Our buddies in the rearview mirror are barely visible at mid-day during a sandstorm. It was a new experience for me, but apparently not unusual for this stretch of road. We made it through without delay, but with some noticeable pitting of the windshield. Drivers later in the day were not so lucky as sand had to be cleared from the road before they could proceed.
